Body aches :(
So I haven't told you yet, but I signed up to do a mini triathlon in June. Last fall Matt Hoover asked if I would do one with him and I was like no way I am too out of shape. But I mentioned to my cousin Beth that we should do one. She is about a 1/4 of my size and very active. We decided that we would do one this summer in Davenport. She called me last week to let me know that one was full and she had found one for us to do in June down near Des Moines. She said to get signed up before it was full and I signed up right away. After I got my confirmation that I was signed up I started getting just a wee bit nervous, ok really I was freaking out! I am still in no shape to do a triathlon! I have had a membership to the YMCA since January and work out several times a week and I belong to Weight Watchers and I am not losing anymore weight! ARGH!! Last week I downloaded the Couch 25k onto my MP3 player and said I was going to start last week. Well I didn't and then on Sunday my husband and I went up to the track and I started listening to the podcast I had downloaded. I walked for 5 minutes, then it told me to run for 60 seconds(no problem I thought that sounds easy enough), then I walked 90 seconds, then I ran for 60 seconds then I walked and walked and walked. I could not even complete 8 sixty second runs with walking break in between! I went to Cherry Hill Park on Tuesday and decided to give it another shot, because I need to do this and push myself if I want to be successful. Well guess what? I DID IT!! I ran every time it asked and I even had energy when I was done. I went to the Y tonight to run since it was raining out and I completed Day 2 of week 1. I have ran more in the past week then I have probably run in my whole life. I have attempted the swimming part also and have a lot of work to do there, but that should be a little easy then the running part for me, even though I have done any competitive swimming in 25 years. Now I just need to buy a bike and start riding it to work everyday and then longer on the weekends. I got this! I will succeed!
